Wondering?

Will this t-shirt shrink?

Yeah, up to 2.5cm in length and width after the first couple of washes at 30° and air-dried. Hotter washes and tumble drying will shrink it more and fade the Almost Black variation faster.

We've added a little extra length to each size to allow for shrinkage, so it might feel a touch long at first.

What is the Made to Order model?

We make t-shirts on Thursdays and ship on Friday or Monday.

If you order by Wednesday, 8 am, your t-shirt will be made that Thursday. Orders after Wednesday at 8 am are made the following Thursday.

We close orders when we reach capacity for that week and reopen on Wednesday at 8:01 am for the new week. We keep things to one week, so orders and wait times don't stack up.

We'll email you when your order is made and on its way.

Is this t-shirt biodegradable?

It will break down under the right conditions, but a landfill isn't one of those, so please don't ever throw it in the bin.

If it can't be kept wearable with a re-dye or repair, or beyond that, given a new use, get in touch at dan@oau.store, and we'll sort it out.

What does Discovery and [TYPE 1] refer to?

Discovery is our style and fit type. TYPE 1 is the fabric reference for this version: Australian Super Cotton, single jersey, 220gsm.

As we bring out other fibres and fabrics, the reference will change, but anything named Discovery will be the same fit.

Are there plans to add more colours?

Always! But as a small-scale brand, it takes time to roll out ideas. Will update when we can.

Is this style available for wholesale?

Not at the moment, but we're definitely interested in collaborations and t-shirt-related projects. Email dan@oau.store if you have an idea.

How many t-shirts do you make per week?

21.

Will there be a bright white option?

Not anytime soon. The Original Ecru variation is the natural colour of this cotton, and it's our base for wearing and dyeing. Going that route and not white skipped quite a lot of extra time, energy, chemicals, and water.

White t-shirts look really fresh, but in our experience, a lot of them look dirty and dull pretty quickly, and perhaps ecru is more forgiving all round.

Is this a ‘blank’ t-shirt for customising?

It's not designed for the blanks industry. But if personalising them is something you'd like to do, great. The ecru is ready to dye, including the stitching, and there are no fabric finishes on either colour, so all good to print on.

Why not organic cotton?

Something we've learned working with farmers is that there isn't one way to grow cotton that makes the most sense everywhere. It's very much situational. The location, the person doing it, what they have to work with, their challenges, and what they can do. It all varies a lot.

Glenn Rogan grows the cotton in this t-shirt in Queensland, Australia. For him, water is his biggest limitation and growing organically where he is just hasn't been viable.

Have a read of our chat with Glenn. There's a lot more about it in there.

We'll use different materials produced in all kinds of ways depending on what works for the project.

Is this the perfect t-shirt?

"Perfect" means different things to different people.

We try really hard to make great t-shirts, but claiming perfection isn't what we're doing.

This one reflects part of our tastes and what's possible at our scale.

Amazing if you love it, but no worries if it's not for you.

Do you do custom adjustments?

If you have a genuine need or a really personal reason that would benefit from an adjustment like extra length, no labels, or anything else, please get in touch at dan@oau.store, and we'll happily work it out. Outside of that, we keep things as they are.
